"C-M" is a nonprofit organization providing effective and
compassionate treatment, recovery, and prevention services for
alcoholism and substance use to individuals, families, and the
community. Since 1970 CLARE-MATRIX has provided quality substance
use and mental health treatment to men, women, and youth in
southern California. Through programs run by a compassionate,
committed, results-oriented team of counselors, therapists, and
administrators, CLARE-MATRIX continues to build its reputation as a
leader in evidence-based treatment practices and continues to break
new ground in the areas of positive outcomes, outreach and
community involvement. Headquartered in Santa Monica, CA,
CLARE-MATRIX maintains multiple facilities in the Southern
California region, providing services to participants in a manner

representative of the duties, responsibilities and requirements of
the job, but is not intended to be an exhaustive list.
Summary:Under the supervision of a licensed healthcare
professional, with minimum latitude for independent judgement and
decision, the Medication Assistant ("MA") provides critical support
to the nursing and clinical team by administering medications and
assisting in the overall care of participants in a 24-hour
residential rehab and recovery setting. The MA will work to ensure
that all medications are administered safely and effectively as
part of the treatment program, adhering strictly to all legal and
regulatory requirements. Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
- Participant Interaction: Greets participants and verifies
participant information by interviewing participant and recording
medical history. Takes participants vitals.
- HIPAA Compliance: Secures participant information and maintains
strict participant confidence by completing and safeguarding
medical records and ensuring participant information is kept
confidential.
- Medication Administration: Safely and accurately administer
medications to participants as prescribed, following all
regulations and protocols.
- Documentation: Utilizing the EHR, "MyEvolv", properly and
correctly document all medication administration accurately and
promptly in the participant's medical record, maintaining
compliance with municipal, state and federal regulations and
maintaining accurate and complete proper documentation for all
participants encounters.
- Participant Monitoring: Observe participants for changes in
condition, adverse reactions to medications, or signs of behavioral
health crises, reporting findings to the nursing or clinical
team.
- Medication Inventory Management: Monitor medication stock
levels, medication inventory, organize medication storage, and
report low stock or discrepancies to supervisors.
- Medication Refills: Monitor medication levels and place orders
for refills, as required.
- Communication: Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other
healthcare providers to communicate participant needs, updates, and
progress.
- Safety: Follow all safety and infection control procedures,
ensuring a clean, safe, and supportive environment for
participants
- Professional Behavior - Strictly maintain professional
boundaries following established limits and guidelines for
appropriate behavior with participants, ensuring a safe and ethical
environment by clearly separating the professional role from
personal interactions, and protecting the client's privacy and
dignity. Boundaries typically include parameters like personal
disclosure limits, physical touch restrictions, and clear
communication about the professional nature of the
relationship.
- Education and Training: Participate in ongoing training, team
meetings, and certifications to maintain eligibility for the role,
current knowledge in medication administration and best practices
for a rehab and recovery setting.
- Compliance and Ethics - Ensure all activities comply with
grants, regulatory bodies, ethical standards and company
policies.
- Model and uphold company policies and procedures.
- Answer phone calls and emails. Teamwork and Collaboration
- Collaborate with cross-functional, and multidisciplinary teams
including, but not limited to Department Heads, Counselors,
therapists, case managers, and medical professionals to ensure
comprehensive participant care.
- Participate in staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with
supervisor(s), and other meetings as required.
- Participate in in-service training, and continuing education to
maintain eligibility for the role. Maximize learning opportunities
by remaining receptive to constructive feedback and utilizing
support available from your supervisor and others.
- Maintain a good knowledge and understanding of CLARE-MATRIX's
mission, vision, & philosophy.
- Contribute to a healthy work environment by cultivating and
maintaining appropriate boundaries and a professional demeanor at
all times.
- Communicate on a direct and timely basis about needs and
problems as they arise.
- Ensure health and safety regulations are upheld to CLARE-MATRIX
standards.
- Ensure standards of conduct are upheld to CLARE-MATRIX
standards.
- Ensure a community environment is maintained.
Qualifications
- Must have Board Certification by the CCBMA.
- Must have achieved sobriety of at least one year.
- Must have current CPR certification or obtain within 30 days
from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Must complete all pre-employment requirements including a
Livescan and physical.
- Must complete all Learning Management System "LMS" assignments
by 30 days of employment.
- Must have reliable transportation, possess and maintain a valid
California Drivers' License with proof of valid automobile
insurance and maintain a safe driving record. Knowledge, Experience
and Skills:
- Experience in a rehabilitation or recovery center setting.
- Appropriate sensitivity, genuine compassion and empathy to work
well with diverse populations.
- Working knowledge and understanding of the clinical
environment.
- Self-starter with the ability to independently drive projects
forward, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- The ability to think outside the box, look for opportunities,

adaptable.
- Sound judgement and discernment.
- Advanced verbal and written communication and interpersonal
skills, including social and presentation skills.
